LONDON- British Airways (BA) has announced significant changes to its international flight schedule for the Northern Summer 2025 season. These updates include route expansions, aircraft swaps, service reductions, and temporary cancellations to optimize operations.
The details reflect adjustments as of December 22, 2024, with a focus on enhancing customer experience and operational efficiency.
British Airways International Flight Changes
The airline is optimizing its network with a particular focus on North American and Middle Eastern routes, while also strengthening its presence in key Asian markets.
Notable changes include service cancellations to Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Kuwait City (KWI), while expanding frequencies to destinations like Washington Dulles (IAD) and Vancouver (YVR).

London Gatwick (LGW) Hub Changes
1. Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi – BKK)
British Airways (BA) has extended its Northern winter seasonal service between London Gatwick (LGW) and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi until 26 April 2025. The route will operate three times weekly using a Boeing 777-200ER, providing travelers with a convenient option for visiting Thailand during this extended period.
3. Cancun (CUN)
Starting 30 March 2025, the frequency of flights between London Gatwick (LGW) and Cancun will increase from six to seven weekly. This daily service will continue to utilize the Boeing 777-200ER, catering to the growing demand for travel to this Mexican destination.
3. New York (JFK)
The daily service between London Gatwick (LGW) and New York JFK, operated by a Boeing 777-200ER, will resume on 28 April 2025 instead of the previously planned start date of 30 March 2025. Additionally, selective flights on this route from 28 April to 3 October 2025 will utilize the same aircraft.
4. Vancouver (YVR)
British Airways has revised its Vancouver operations. The daily service from London Gatwick (LGW) will run between 4 June and 15 September 2025, using a Boeing 777-200ER. At London Heathrow (LHR), services will see multiple adjustments:
- Effective 30 March 2025, the 777-200ER replaces the A350-1000.
- From 5 April 2025, the frequency will increase to 11 weekly with BA087/086 flights.
- By 18 June 2025, the service will expand to 14 weekly flights, doubling the daily options for travelers.
London Heathrow (LHR) Hub Changes
1. Abu Dhabi (AUH)
The daily 787-8 service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Abu Dhabi will be canceled starting 30 March 2025, marking a significant shift in the airline’s Middle East operations.

British Airways is making adjustments to its Austin schedule from London Heathrow (LHR). Flights BA191/190 will switch from an A350-1000 to a 777-200ER, effective 30 March 2025, maintaining daily service. 5. Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
British Airways has revised its Chicago services from London Heathrow (LHR):
- BA295/294 will feature 787-8/-10 aircraft, replacing the 777-200ER starting 30 March 2025.
- BA297/296 will operate with a 777-300ER from 30 March to 31 May 2025, instead of the originally planned full-season operation.
- BA299/298 will switch to a 777-200ER, replacing the 787-9, starting 30 March 2025.
6. Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW)
The daily service to Dallas/Ft. Worth from London Heathrow (LHR) will be suspended from 30 March 2025. However, flights are tentatively planned to resume on 26 October 2025, with the previously scheduled A350-1000 replacing the 777-200ER.
7. Delhi (DEL)
British Airways has cancelled its planned third daily service to Delhi, originally scheduled with a 787-8, effective 19 April 2025.
8. Dubai (DXB)
The Dubai service from London Heathrow (LHR) will see significant changes from 30 March 2025:
- Flights BA109/108 will switch to a combination of 787-9/-10 aircraft, replacing the current 777-300ER.
- Flights BA105/104 will increase to daily service operated by 777-300ER/787-10, leading to a total of 21 weekly flights between the two cities.
9. Hong Kong (HKG)
British Airways will continue operating daily service to Hong Kong from London Heathrow (LHR), with an A350-1000 replacing the current 777-200ER from 30 March 2025.
10. Johannesburg (JNB)
The A380 service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Johannesburg will increase from one daily flight to two daily flights, effective 1 June 2025, providing greater capacity on this popular route.
11. Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
After a long hiatus, British Airways will resume daily flights to Kuala Lumpur from London Heathrow (LHR) with a 787-9, starting 1 April 2025.
12. Kuwait City (KWI)
The daily service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Kuwait City, operated by a mix of 777-200ER and 787-9, will be discontinued from 30 March 2025.
13. Las Vegas (LAS)
British Airways will reduce the frequency of its Las Vegas route from 10 to 7 weekly flights, using an A350-1000 from 16 June to 9 September 2025.
14. Miami (MIA)
Effective 30 March 2025, the Miami service from London Heathrow (LHR) will reduce from two daily flights to one daily flight, operated by an A380. However, exceptions are scheduled for 4–5 May 2025, during which the original frequency may temporarily resume.
15. Mumbai (BOM)
British Airways has implemented a detailed schedule for Mumbai with multiple aircraft changes across three key flights:
- BA139/138: Aircraft transitions include 787-8, 787-9, and service cancellations during specified periods between 31 March and 24 October 2025.
- BA135/134: Similar adjustments are planned, including a 777-200ER replacement from 17 October 2025.
- BA199/198: The service will be cancelled from 6–26 July 2025 but resume with an A350-1000 replacing the 777-200ER during peak demand periods from 27 July to 31 August 2025.
16. Nairobi (NBO)
The frequency between London Heathrow (LHR) and Nairobi will increase to 10 weekly flights starting 10 July 2025, with the additional service operated by a 787-8.
17. Nashville (BNA)
Nashville flights will expand to 10 weekly during the peak period from 6 August to 10 September 2025, using a 787-9 aircraft.
18. Newark (EWR)
On select days, the 787-10 will replace the 777-300ER on the London Heathrow (LHR)–Newark route, effective 30 March 2025.
19. Philadelphia (PHL)
From 30 March 2025, the Philadelphia service will switch to a 787-10, replacing the previously used aircraft.
20. San Francisco (SFO)
Between 30 March and 31 May 2025, British Airways will deploy an A380 to replace the 777-300ER on flights BA287/286, maintaining an overall service of two daily A380 flights between London Heathrow (LHR) and San Francisco.
21. Washington Dulles (IAD)
Washington will benefit from an increase in frequency and upgraded aircraft:
- Flights BA217/216 will switch to a 777-300ER, effective 30 March 2025.
- The overall service will expand to three daily flights with the addition of BA291/290, operated by a 787-8.
