LONDON- British Airways (BA) Flight BA 1375 from Manchester Airport (MAN) landed safely at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) on June 3, prompting a rapid response from fire crews. The incident followed a minor technical issue reported during the flight.

In a separate event at Heathrow (LHR), a lorry struck a Saudia (SV) Boeing 787-9 aircraft near stand 414 after the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.

The plane, which had just arrived from Jeddah (JED), sustained structural damage despite appearing minimally affected at first glance.

British Airways Flight Technical Alert

British Airways (BA) Flight BA1375, operated by British Airways (BA), departed from Manchester Airport (MAN) and landed at London Heathrow (LHR) on June 3.

Shortly after landing, the aircraft was met by emergency response units, in line with safety protocols triggered by a minor technical issue detected during the flight.

Once the aircraft cleared runway 27R, it taxied to the stand at Terminal 5 without incident.

British Airways stated that the aircraft landed normally and emphasized that safety remains their top priority.

“The aircraft landed safely and customers disembarked normally at Heathrow following reports of a minor technical issue,” the airline said in an official statement.

This response reflects standard procedure when potential technical irregularities are identified, ensuring immediate inspection and risk assessment by ground emergency teams.

No disruption was caused to airport operations, and all passengers exited the aircraft without delay.

Incident Involving Saudia Aircraft

In a separate and unrelated event, a safety incident occurred at Heathrow Airport (LHR) on May 28 involving a Saudia (SV) Boeing 787-9.

Shortly after SVA 105 from King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) arrived at Terminal 4 and passengers had disembarked, a ground service vehicle collided with the aircraft.

Reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake during a standard safety protocol near stand 414.

The vehicle struck the fuselage, causing puncture damage that classified the collision as a serious incident.

Baggage handlers present explained that the safety maneuver requires drivers to stop several times when nearing an aircraft.

In this case, it appears the driver confused the pedals, leading to the impact. Firefighters and police responded promptly, as is standard procedure even for incidents with no immediate injuries or fire.

Safety Protocols

London Heathrow (LHR), one of the busiest airports globally, enforces rigorous safety and emergency protocols to address even minor incidents.

Both the British Airways and Saudia cases underline the importance of proactive safety checks and rapid emergency response.

These measures are designed to maintain high standards of passenger and aircraft safety without causing operational disruptions.

Heathrow’s emergency response system involves coordination between airside operations, emergency services, and airline technical teams, ensuring that any anomaly, whether in the air or on the ground, is addressed promptly.
