LONDON- A British Airways (BA) flight attendant was discovered n*ked and reportedly smoking methamphetamine in a lavatory during a transatlantic flight from the US West Coast (LAX/SFO) to London Heathrow (LHR).
The incident shocked passengers and crew, raising fresh concerns over safety and professional conduct among airline staff.
The flight attendant, who had previously appeared in British Airways’ official safety video, was removed from duty and arrested upon landing at Heathrow, with law enforcement boarding the aircraft immediately. British Airways confirmed that he has been suspended pending a full internal investigation.

According to passengers and colleagues, the crew member locked himself in the lavatory mid-flight and was found completely unclothed, reportedly smoking crystal meth.
Witnesses described him as incoherent and erratic, muttering nonsensical phrases, before he admitted, “I’ve been a very naughty boy.” Such behavior not only endangered his health but also raised serious concerns about crew reliability during a critical transatlantic route.
The attendant, employed by BA since 2018, had cultivated a flamboyant social media presence that showcased late-night partying, heavy drinking, and glamorous travel posts.
Reports suggest he had been investigated previously for unspecified conduct, though this incident marked the most severe breach to date.
On arrival at Heathrow, the Metropolitan Police boarded the aircraft and arrested the crew member for drug possession and indecent exposure.
He now faces criminal charges while also being permanently removed from operational duties by British Airways. The airline emphasized its zero-tolerance policy, stating:
“Safety is always our top priority and we expect the highest standards from our colleagues, both on and off duty. This individual is no longer working.”
Reported by BBC, the case has also revived comparisons to an earlier incident in which another BA flight attendant allegedly stripped and danced in business class during a cocaine binge on a similar US-London route.

Broader Pattern
The scandal adds to a troubling list of behavioral controversies involving British Airways crews in recent years. Previous incidents include:
- A group of BA staff were nearly ejected from a resort after a violent drunken brawl.
- Flight attendants in Rio de Janeiro who fabricated a mugging story to conceal a night of excessive partying.
- An investigation into a crew member accused of soliciting sexual favors from passengers.
These cases, combined with the latest meth smoking episode, highlight ongoing challenges for the airline in enforcing discipline and safeguarding its global reputation.

Similar Incident
In a separate but equally embarrassing episode, British Airways staff were mistakenly accommodated at a s*x-themed motel in Milan (MXP).
Instead of the approved Mo.om Hotel, booking staff accidentally reserved the Mo.om Motel, an adult establishment designed for erotic encounters.
Twelve crew members, including pilots, were subjected to an overnight stay in rooms featuring bondage furniture, mirrored ceilings, leather harnesses, and even cages.
Disturbed by loud sexual activity, drug use in the vicinity, and unsafe conditions, many were unable to rest before scheduled flights.
The incident was traced back to confusion between two similarly named properties. British Airways later admitted to the error, acknowledging that such disruptions compromise crew well-being and operational safety.

Safety and Reputation Concerns
For an airline of British Airways’ scale and prestige, these recurring scandals represent more than just isolated events; they risk eroding passenger trust. Crew members are not only responsible for service but also for critical safety functions in emergencies.
When staff behavior undermines confidence, the consequences stretch beyond headlines to affect brand image and operational credibility.
Analysts argue that BA must tighten recruitment, monitoring, and welfare support to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Strengthening background checks, increasing drug testing, and improving rest accommodations could be crucial steps in restoring the airline’s professional standards.
