There are around 290 passengers and crew members on board the aircraft.

The flight was operated by a Boeing 777-200ER, registered as N791UA. Further, it is a 27.7-year-old aircraft powered by Pratt and Whitney PW4000 engines.

Last Month, the same aircraft was involved in the leakage-related incident, but it was water leakage from the cabin ceiling.

Similar Incident

United Airlines (UA) Boeing 777-300 aircraft operating as Flight UA830 suffered a midair fuel leak, forcing an emergency landing on March 11, 2024, marking the airline’s fifth incident in just over a week.

The aircraft departed Sydney Airport (SYD) for a scheduled 14-hour journey to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) but was forced to return to Sydney approximately two hours into the flight due to what United initially described as a “maintenance issue.”

Flight 830 was carrying 183 passengers and crew members when pilots identified the fuel leak. Following standard emergency procedures, the flight crew immediately initiated a return to Sydney, where the aircraft landed safely. United Airlines confirmed that all passengers “deplaned normally at the gate” with no reported injuries.
