United Flight U-Turn
According to FlightRadar24 data, United Airlines flight UA164 took off from Newark at 3:08 AM UTC.
Shortly after takeoff, the flight experienced technical issues with the aircraft at 19,000 feet. Following this, the flight crew contacted ATC and decided to burn extra fuel.
The crew made a holding pattern near Springfield before coming back for a precautionary landing at Newark Airport. The flight landed safely at Newark at 4:41 AM UTC, almost one hour and 30 minutes later from its departure.
The flight was operated by Boeing 777-200ER, registered as N79011. Further, it is a 25.7-year-old aircraft powered by the world’s most powerful GE90 engines.

Usually, the United 777-200ER has 50 Business Class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 202 economy seats.
The exact details of technical issues are not known, however by looking at the flight schedule, the aircraft remained on the ground for over 3 days at EWR before operating the flight to Tokyo Narita (NRT). This means it could be a major issue.
The airline arranged another aircraft, however, due to severe weather conditions, the crew could not operate the flight and was forced to cancel it.
