OSLO— Norse Atlantic Airways (N0) is expanding its winter schedule with four new routes to Thailand, strengthening its long-haul presence in Southeast Asia. The carrier will connect key European cities to major Thai destinations starting October 2025.

Meanwhile, the airline is discontinuing several transatlantic services, including routes to the U.S. from London (LGW), Oslo (OSL), and Berlin (BER), citing network realignment, Ishrion Aviation reported.

Norse Atlantic New Thailand Flights

Norse Atlantic Airways is set to launch four direct routes between Europe and Thailand for the upcoming winter season:

  • Oslo (OSL) to Phuket (HKT) – launching December 8, 2025
  • Stockholm (ARN) to Phuket (HKT) – launching December 4, 2025
  • Stockholm (ARN) to Bangkok (BKK) – launching October 22, 2025
  • London Gatwick (LGW) to Bangkok (BKK) – launching October 26, 2025

These new flights aim to capitalize on high winter demand for travel to Thailand, a top leisure market for European travelers. Phuket (HKT) and Bangkok (BKK) are strategic additions to Norse’s network, targeting both beach and cultural tourism segments.

The airline’s point-to-point model and lower-cost structure make it well-positioned to serve long-haul leisure travelers looking for affordable options during peak season.

U.S. Network Retrenchment

Alongside this Asian expansion, Norse Atlantic will not resume several of its previous transatlantic routes for winter:

  • London Gatwick (LGW) to Las Vegas (LAS)
  • Oslo (OSL) to Miami (MIA)
  • Berlin (BER) to Miami (MIA)

This marks a partial retreat from the U.S. market, where competitive pressures and seasonal demand variability have impacted route profitability.

Record Load Factor and Passenger Growth in May

Norse Atlantic Airways achieved its highest-ever network-wide load factor in May 2025, reporting a 96% load factor across scheduled, ACMI, and charter operations. The airline also saw a 41% year-over-year increase in total passenger numbers, underscoring strong demand ahead of the peak summer season.

The carrier transported 182,854 passengers during the month, compared to 129,722 in May 2024, driven by both network expansion and operational efficiencies.

May 2025 marked a milestone for Norse Atlantic Airways, setting new internal benchmarks for both passenger volume and aircraft utilization:

  • 96% load factor across total operations (up from 81% in May 2024)
  • 95% load factor in the scheduled network (up from 79% YoY)
  • 584 scheduled flights operated (up from 513)
  • 64 ACMI/charter flights operated (up from 55)

These figures reflect a 15-percentage-point increase in the overall load factor and a 16-point rise within the scheduled network. The 95% scheduled load factor ties with Norse’s previous monthly record.

According to the airline, these results confirm the viability of its low-cost, long-haul strategy amid seasonal growth and increased route offerings.

Despite high load factors and flight volumes, on-time performance declined slightly. Only 81% of flights departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled time, compared to 86% in May 2024. Norse attributed the dip to ongoing Air Traffic Control (ATC) delays and airport congestion across several European and North American hubs.

The airline emphasized that punctuality remains a focus area, particularly as demand rises during the summer travel surge.

Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways, expressed confidence in the airline’s continued upward trajectory:

Norse Atlantic Airways continues to deliver a world-leading load factor and significant volume growth. We maintain our good momentum into the upcoming busy summer months, where we will continue to deliver our affordable, value-for-money product to our customers worldwide.”
