SINGAPORE- Air passenger traffic between India and Singapore reached a historic peak in 2024, crossing 5.5 million passengers, according to data from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). This marks a 12% increase from 2023 and a 15% surge compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels.

India is now Changi’s sixth-largest market, served by airlines like Singapore Airlines (SQ), Air India (AI), IndiGo (6E), and Scoot (TR), operating 280 weekly flights across 16 Indian cities, including Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), and Bengaluru (BLR).

In 2024, air passenger traffic between India and Singapore hit a record 5.5 million, a 12% increase from 2023 and 15% above pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

This growth positions India as Changi Airport’s (SIN) sixth-largest market. The surge is fueled by strong economic ties, tourism, and business travel, with six airlines – Air India (AI), Air India Express (IX), DrukAir (KB), IndiGo (6E), Scoot (TR), and Singapore Airlines (SQ), operating approximately 280 weekly flights.

These services connect Singapore to 16 Indian cities, including major hubs like Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Bengaluru (BLR), and Hyderabad (HYD).

Changi Airport (SIN) remains Southeast Asia’s most connected hub to India, a status reinforced by its strategic focus on expanding routes.

The airport’s operator, Changi Airport Group (CAG), plans to add connectivity to cities like Jaipur (JAI), Lucknow (LKO), Surat (STV), and Chandigarh (IXC) in the near future.

This expansion aims to capitalize on India’s growing aviation market and increasing demand for international travel.

The airport’s infrastructure investments also play a critical role. With 100 airlines operating 7,400 weekly flights to over 160 cities worldwide as of March 2025, Changi (SIN) is well-equipped to handle rising traffic.

Recent route additions, such as Phu Quoc (PQC) in Vietnam and Dali (DLU) in China, alongside a planned Vienna (VIE) connection, enhance its global network.
