MANAMA- Gulf Air (GF), the national carrier of Bahrain, continues refining its India flight network. The airline will have notable adjustments now coming in for the summer 2025 season.
Gulf Air had made major adjustments to its India network in the winter 2024 season as well. Further, the airline will make more modifications, including reductions on select routes and expansions on others.
Gulf Air India flight Adjustments
These further adjustments show Gulf Air’s efforts to optimize its operations and better align with passenger demand across its key markets in India. The changes are coming to the South-Indian cities.
As per The Indian Aviation Guy on Twitter (X), Gulf Air (GF) will make changes in its network from four Indian cities. Two of these cities will see reductions in the flights operated by Gulf Air (GF).
Kozhikode (CCJ):
The airline will end up flying to the city along the Malabar coast in the state of Kerela – Kozhikode, also known as Calicut. The last flight is set to fly out of Kozhikode (CCJ) on 28th March 2025. Gulf Air (GF) currently operates 4 times a week flights and competes with Air India Express (AIX). Air India Express (AIX) also operates 4 times a week flights in the sector.
Kerela is traditionally believed to have a high demand to the Gulf region. This move by the airline is rather shocking. However, there is no clear reason as to why the airline is ending its operations to Kozhikode (CCJ). Maybe, Gulf Air (GF) is not able to compete with Air India Express (AIX) in the sector.
Kochi (COK):
Gulf Air will reduce the flight frequency to 3x weekly starting from 6th April 2025. The airline operates 4x weekly flights now with Airbus A320 aircraft.
Gulf Air competes with Air India Express (AIX) in the sector. Air India Express (AIX) flies 6 times a week between Kochi (COK) and Bahrain (BAH).
The other two cities to see the changes will have the increment in the capacity by the airline.
Goa Dabolim (GOI):
Gulf Air (GF) will increase the flights to 7 times a week. The airline flies 4 times a week in the sector now.
The introduction of daily flights reflects the strong and growing travel demand to Goa. There is no other airline operating in the sector.
Bengaluru (BLR):
Bengaluru (BLR) will see the largest capacity addition by Gulf Air (GF) in the summer season of 2025. The airline plans to double its presence in Bengaluru (BLR).
Reportedly, Gulf Air (GF) has opened bookings for a 2nd flight which will be operating 7 times a week. The airline currently operates flights to Bengaluru (BLR) 7 times a week. With the introduction of this new flight, the airline will have double capacity to the city.
The airline a few weeks ago had planned to reduce the frequency to Bengaluru (BLR) to 6x weekly. However, it seems that the airline was in the process of updating the GDS (Global Distribution System). Gulf Air now plans to fly 2 times a day starting from 31st March 2025.
Bottom Line
Gulf Air (GF) has recently expanded its network in Europe in 2024. The airline added flights to cities like Athens (ATH) in Greece and Munich (MUC) in Germany. The airline plans to continue the expansion further in 2025.
From what it appears, Gulf Air seems to have begun focusing more on connecting passengers. This might be the reason the airline is doubling its presence in one of the three most important airports of India – Bengaluru (BLR).
Gulf Air (GF) is likely to make more changes to its network in the coming days. It will surely be interesting to see how things unfold in the future.
