NEW YORK- Finnair (AY) Flight AY10, which was scheduled to fly from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Helsinki (HEL) and operated by an Airbus A330-300 with registration OH-LTM, had to change its route shortly after reaching the two-hour mark after takeoff on Saturday evening.

The plane took off at 21:54 local time (UTC-5) from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago en route to Helsinki. However, it made a U-turn above the Canadian province of Quebec and was redirected towards New York (JFK). About four hours after departure, the aircraft landed at John F. Finnair Chicago to Helsinki Flight

Päivyt Tallqvist, Finnair’s communications manager, confirmed that were 194 passengers on board the aircraft. It was uncertain how these passengers would reach Helsinki.

Shortly after landing, the flight was officially canceled, and passengers were escorted to the terminal.

Tallqvist attributed the diversion to a technical issue on board. However, she did not provide specific details to aviation24.be about the nature of the problem, stating, “We haven’t been able to conduct an examination of the aircraft yet.”
