DUBAI- Emirates Airline (EK) has launched a new daily service to Shenzhen (SZX), strengthening its network in the Chinese mainland. The inaugural flight EK328 from Dubai (DXB) landed on 1 July at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, marking the airline’s fourth gateway in China.
The route enhances Emirates’ East Asia growth strategy and improves access to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Passengers on the first flight were welcomed with special gifts and commemorative certificates.

Emirates Shenzhen Flights
With Shenzhen now added to its network, Emirates offers 42 weekly flights to four major Chinese cities: Beijing (PEK), Shanghai (PVG), Guangzhou (CAN), and Shenzhen (SZX). This expansion supports growing travel demand and enhances trade routes between China and the UAE.
- Flight EK328 operates with a Boeing 777-300ER configured in four classes. It departs Dubai at 10:05 hrs and arrives in Shenzhen at 22:00 hrs.
- The return leg, EK329, leaves Shenzhen at 23:55 hrs and lands in Dubai at 03:40 hrs the next day.
The schedule is tailored to ensure smooth connections to Europe—including London (LHR), Frankfurt (FRA), Paris (CDG), and Amsterdam (AMS)—and destinations in Africa and the Middle East.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted Shenzhen’s strategic importance as a hub for innovation and trade. He emphasized the airline’s role in linking the region to global markets and supporting the broader China-UAE strategic partnership.

Premium Travel Experience to Shenzhen
Passengers flying to Shenzhen will travel aboard Emirates’ upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The jet features:
- 8 private First Class suites
- 40 Business Class lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 configuration
- 24 Premium Economy seats with upgraded comfort
- 260 spacious Economy Class seats
Shenzhen becomes the first city in the Chinese mainland to receive Emirates’ retrofitted aircraft, reflecting the carrier’s investment in premium customer experience in this critical market.
Cargo and Supply Chain Benefits
Each Dubai-Shenzhen flight offers up to 16 tonnes of cargo capacity. This supports the “Aerial Silk Road” by linking Shenzhen’s advanced industries—including biopharma, smart manufacturing, and e-commerce—to Emirates SkyCargo’s global network.
The service also enhances time-sensitive logistics through Emirates’ cold chain capabilities, which ensure reliable international movement of perishable goods and pharmaceuticals under a 72-hour global supply chain framework.

Deepening UAE-China Bilateral Relations
The UAE is China’s largest trade partner in the Middle East, with bilateral trade totaling US$95 billion in 2023. Emirates’ expansion aligns with increased cooperation in sectors like technology, logistics, and investment.
Additionally, visa-free entry for up to 30 days is now available for travelers from the UAE and other GCC nations, enabling smoother travel planning for both business and leisure.
This launch underscores Emirates’ long-term commitment to East Asia, providing critical air links for passengers and businesses while reinforcing diplomatic and economic ties between the UAE and China.

Retrofitted 777s and A380 Routes
Emirates (EK) is significantly enhancing its global network with upgraded aircraft and expanded frequencies across key markets. The airline is deploying more retrofitted Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s to major cities including Shanghai (PVG), Zurich (ZRH), Milan (MXP), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), and Buenos Aires (EZE).
Effective 26 October, these strategic enhancements will meet growing passenger demand and offer more travelers access to Emirates’ Premium Economy on refreshed aircraft. The airline’s extensive retrofit program has already modernized 60 aircraft since November 2022.
Emirates’ new schedule aligns with surging global travel demand and the airline’s continued fleet modernization. A major highlight is the deployment of Airbus A380s on several high-demand routes, elevating capacity and service quality.
- Milan (MXP) will see a third daily flight, EK101/102, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER.
- Rio de Janeiro (GIG) and Buenos Aires (EZE) will gain daily service via the linked EK247/248 flights.
- From 20 July, Shanghai (PVG) will be served by a retrofitted Boeing 777 on EK304/305, while EK302/303 will receive an A380 upgrade.
- From this winter season, the third daily flight to Singapore (SIN) on EK314/315 will be upgraded to an A380.
- From 1 February 2026, the second daily Zurich (ZRH) flight, EK85/86, will switch from a retrofitted Boeing 777 to an A380.
- Premium Economy will launch on EK87/88 to Zurich with a newly retrofitted A380 starting the same day.
These enhancements aim to deliver a consistent, high-quality onboard experience across all cabins, especially as Premium Economy continues to grow in popularity.

Retrofitted Fleet: Enhancing Passenger Experience
Emirates’ ongoing fleet retrofit program is central to these changes. Every three weeks, one aircraft undergoes a comprehensive overhaul, with 60 aircraft completed so far.
The retrofitted aircraft feature Emirates’ latest cabin products across four classes: First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.
- The Boeing 777 offers up to 8 First Class suites, 40 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy seats, and 256 in Economy.
- The A380 Premium Economy section includes 56 seats in a 2-4-2 layout with enhanced comfort, in-seat power, and additional amenities.
These refreshed interiors aim to set a new benchmark in long-haul comfort, particularly in the Premium Economy segment.
Meeting Demand in a Dynamic Environment
Despite operational challenges in global aviation, Emirates continues expanding capacity proactively. Its robust network strategy leverages both market demand and aircraft availability, positioning the airline to capture a greater share of premium leisure and business travel.
Travelers booking on upgraded routes will enjoy advanced cabin features, expanded seat choices, and increased schedule flexibility heading into the winter season.
