ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) is expanding its African network with new nonstop routes from Atlanta, including its inaugural service to Marrakech (RAK), Morocco, beginning October 25.

The airline will also add seasonal service from Atlanta (ATL) to Accra (ACC), Ghana, starting December 1, to meet increased winter demand. These additions make both destinations more accessible while extending Delta’s premium service to more African locations.

Delta Two New Africa Routes

Since entering the African market in 2006, Delta has maintained its commitment to connecting U.S. travelers with the continent. The airline currently operates year-round nonstop flights to five African destinations and has transported over 7.5 million passengers on these routes.

“Delta’s new service to Marrakech and added flights to Accra strengthen our presence in Africa, offering more opportunities for customers to enjoy our award-winning service and premium onboard experience,” said Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning at Delta. “Whether discovering Morocco or reconnecting with loved ones in Ghana, these routes enhance our network while reinforcing Atlanta’s role as the world’s largest global hub.”

Marrakech captivates visitors with its centuries-old traditions, vibrant markets, and luxury accommodations. As interest in Morocco grows, Delta’s new service—featuring one-stop connections from over 125 cities—provides unprecedented access to this UNESCO-listed destination.

Travelers can explore Marrakech’s lively Medina, navigating through bustling markets and peaceful riads with sun-filled courtyards. Visitors can admire the detailed tilework of Bahia Palace, experience the energy of Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, and relax with traditional hammam spa treatments.

Each experience combines cultural immersion with relaxation, enhanced by Morocco’s distinctive, flavorful cuisine. Beyond the city, adventures await in the Atlas Mountains or at serene desert retreats.

Delta’s new Atlanta-Marrakech route will operate three times weekly using a Boeing 767-400ER aircraft. The planes feature Delta’s complete cabin offering: Delta One with lie-flat seats, premium amenities and chef-curated meals including build-your-own ice cream sundaes; Delta Premium Select with wider seats, deeper reclines and enhanced dining; Delta Comfort+; and Main Cabin service.

Delta continues implementing fast, free Wi-Fi across its global fleet, providing connectivity at a scale unmatched in the industry. SkyMiles members traveling to Morocco will enjoy streaming-quality internet from boarding to arrival at no cost.

The airline is rapidly expanding this service to remaining international routes, with all additional West African destinations (Lagos, Dakar and Accra) expected to receive Delta Sync Wi-Fi in the coming weeks, followed by Marrakech when service begins in October.

Expanded Accra Service

Strong demand from U.S.-Africa travelers has maintained Accra as one of Delta’s most popular African destinations, particularly during holiday periods.

To meet this increased demand, Delta is launching seasonal daily nonstop service from Atlanta to Accra, which will complement its existing daily year-round service from New York-JFK.

Following the introduction of the Airbus A330-900neo on the JFK-Accra route last October, this same aircraft type will now operate on the Atlanta route. The plane offers Delta One Suites and next-generation comfort features across all cabin classes.

“Africa is home to some of the world’s most dynamic cities, rich traditions, and growing economies, and Delta is making it easier than ever to reach them,” said Matteo Curcio, Senior Vice President of Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India at Delta. “These new routes open doors for travelers seeking business opportunities, cultural exploration, and meaningful connections.”

Strengthens Atlanta Hub

Atlanta serves as Delta’s largest hub, operating nearly 1,000 daily flights and connecting travelers to 215 destinations worldwide. The addition of Marrakech brings Delta’s international destinations from Atlanta to 67, reinforcing the airport’s status as a global gateway alongside other recent additions including Naples and Brussels.

Delta has invested over $12 billion in modernizing its hub network, with significant improvements at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. These enhancements include a new 24,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club opening this spring on Concourse D, featuring panoramic views and comprehensive amenities for diverse traveler needs.

The airline has also upgraded Delta Sky Clubs on Concourses A and C to enhance the guest experience. Additional infrastructure improvements include the expansion of Concourse D, creating more gate space and improving passenger flow throughout the terminal.

Delta has implemented Delta Digital ID technology, allowing eligible travelers to move through security and bag drop processes without presenting physical identification or boarding passes. These technological advancements create a more streamlined experience.

These investments continue to enhance the travel experience for customers flying through Atlanta, whether they’re heading to experience Marrakech’s vibrant markets, Accra’s dynamic streets, or any of Delta’s global destinations.

New Cancun Service

Delta Air Lines will introduce new nonstop international service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) this winter. The daily, seasonal service begins December 20 and continues through mid-April 2026, connecting Texas travelers directly to Mexico’s popular beach destination.

“Delta is the leading global network carrier at Austin-Bergstrom, operating nearly 60 peak day departures this winter,” said Paul Baldoni, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning. “This new service to Cancun adds yet another popular leisure destination for our Austin customers.”

Flights will operate on Delta’s Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with First Class, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin seating options. SkyMiles Members will access fast, free Wi-Fi onboard, complementing the seatback entertainment systems offering over 1,000 hours of content.

Expanded Service Options

Delta will simultaneously increase service between Austin and Orlando (MCO) to twice daily during peak winter travel season, providing both morning and afternoon flight options for travelers.

The airline has already begun expanding its Austin network, with new twice-daily service to New Orleans launching February 27. Additional routes will connect Austin with Panama City, Florida (ECP) in March 2025, followed by Jacksonville (JAX), Indianapolis (IND), and Memphis (MEM) in May 2025, and San Francisco (SFO) and Tampa (TPA) in June 2025.

These additions will increase Delta’s departures from Austin by more than 35% year-over-year, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to serving the Texas capital’s growing travel needs.

Austin travelers also benefit from one of Delta’s most highly-rated Sky Clubs. The lounge, opened in 2019, features Texas-themed elements including a pewter rhinestone cowboy boot sculpture, “Keep Austin Weird” artwork, and a premium beverage menu emphasizing tequilas and mezcals. For three consecutive years, the Austin Delta Sky Club has earned the highest customer satisfaction ranking in the Southern region.

Delta has strategically positioned Austin as a key gateway within its network. With nonstop flights to all major Delta hubs, Austin customers can reach global destinations with one connection or less. Through partnerships with KLM and Aeromexico, Delta offers Austin travelers nonstop service to Amsterdam (AMS) and Mexico City (MEX) multiple times weekly.
