British Airways Club Loyalty Programme

The British Airways (BA) new British Airways Club introduces a dynamic approach to earning Tier Points and Avios.

Members will see enhanced opportunities to progress through membership tiers, with a focus on rewarding diverse travel and spending patterns.

New Tier Points System

From April 2025, members will earn Tier Points based on their flight costs and eligible ancillary purchases such as seat selection and excess baggage. Each £1 spent earns 1 Tier Point, aligning with recalibrated thresholds to ensure fairness under the new model.

Revised Tier thresholds are as follows:

  • Bronze: 3,500 points
  • Silver: 7,500 points
  • Gold: 20,000 points
  • Gold Guest List: 65,000 points (with 52,000 from qualifying British Airways activities).

Sustainable Aviation Contributions

For the first time, members can earn Tier Points by contributing to Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF).

These contributions align with British Airways’ sustainability goals and offer up to 1,000 Tier Points annually. Members can also redeem Avios for SAF contributions, supporting greener travel.

British Airways Holidays

After the success of the double Tier Points promotion, British Airways Holidays now offers limitless Tier Points earnings.

This permanent change applies to holiday package spending, enabling members to reach elite status more efficiently.

Milestone Rewards and Credit Card Benefits

To enhance loyalty, British Airways is introducing milestone rewards and credit card incentives for members.

Milestone benefits will recognize members as they progress within tiers, offering Avios bonuses before reaching higher levels. Starting at 2,500 points, these rewards increase to 4,000 and 5,000 points within the Bronze and Silver tiers. More benefits are planned for rollout in 2025.

Holders of the BA American Express Premium Plus Card can earn up to 2,500 Tier Points annually through everyday spending. Details on this offer will be shared closer to the program’s launch.

Customer Experience and Additional Offers

British Airways’ loyalty programme transformation complements the airline’s £7 billion investment in customer experience.

An updated and newly launched website and mobile app will provide seamless access to loyalty benefits, bookings, and exclusive offers. This digital upgrade reflects the airline’s focus on user convenience and innovation.

Members can enjoy tier-based discounts on wine, beer, and spirits through The Wine Flyer, IAG Loyalty’s online retailer.

Discounts range from 5% for Bronze members to 20% for Gold Guest List members.

To mark the launch of The British Airways Club, the airline is offering bonus Tier Points for bookings made by February 14, 2025, for travel starting April 1, 2025. Bonus points vary by cabin class, with First Class bookings earning the highest bonuses.

Bottom Line

The rebranding and enhancements to The British Airways Club represent the airline’s commitment to adapting to customer feedback and evolving travel demands.

By focusing on rewarding spending habits, offering sustainability-focused rewards, and simplifying tier progression, British Airways has positioned itself to remain a leader in customer loyalty.

These changes follow the successful 2023 transition to an Avios-earning model based on spending, which increased member satisfaction and Avios accrual for the majority of customers.

Initiatives like “Pay with Avios” and Avios-only flights further reflect the airline’s dedication to delivering value and flexibility to its members.
