DALLAS- In 2024, Ultra-low-cost carriers in the United States demonstrated unprecedented network expansion in 2024, introducing over 450 new flight routes – marking a dramatic increase from approximately 200 routes added in 2023, Ishrion Aviation reported.
For context, there are five major Ultra-Low-Cost Carriers in the United States.
US ULCC Airlines Routes
Frontier Airlines (F9) emerged as the aggressive frontrunner, launching 179 new routes, though some represent reactivations of previously suspended services.
Breeze Airways (MX) followed with 89 new routes, showing significant growth from its 70 routes in 2023.
Spirit Airlines (NK) expanded its network with 64 new routes, more than doubling its 2023 additions of 30 routes.
Allegiant Air (G4) launched 60 new routes, compared to 25 in the previous year, while Avelo Airlines increased its network by 55 routes, up from 36 in 2023.
Sun Country Airlines (SY) stood as the only carrier showing reduced expansion, adding just 6 new routes compared to 15 in 2023, as the airline shifted focus toward its cargo operations.

The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) emerged as the primary beneficiary of this expansion, receiving 28 new ULCC routes.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) followed with 26 new routes, while New Haven Airport (HVN) secured 24 new services.
Orlando International (MCO) and Tampa International Airports (TPA) rounded out the top five, gaining 23 and 20 new routes respectively.
