FORT WORTH— American Airlines (AA) will launch its Premium Economy service on the popular New York (JFK) to Los Angeles (LAX) route starting October 5, 2025, offering travelers enhanced comfort and exclusive amenities.
The new transcontinental Premium Economy option—previously reserved for international flights—will provide larger seats, upscale dining, and priority services for passengers flying between two of the airline’s busiest U.S. hubs.

American Airlines Premium Economy
American Airlines (AA), headquartered in Fort Worth, is introducing Premium Economy on select flights between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The service, available from October 5, will bring international-grade comfort to one of the most competitive domestic routes in the U.S. aviation market.
Passengers selecting Premium Economy will benefit from priority check-in, expedited security lanes, and early boarding access.
Once onboard, travelers will be seated in a dedicated cabin featuring wider seats, extra legroom, and enhanced recline, supported by ergonomic touches like an Ostrichpillow® lumbar pillow and a crepe weave blanket for better rest.
Enhanced Amenities and Dining Experience
Premium Economy travelers will receive personal amenity kits with premium skincare products, a feature typically reserved for long-haul flights.
The in-flight entertainment experience is upgraded with larger screens and noise-reducing headphones, while in-seat power outlets ensure uninterrupted connectivity.
One of the most notable features of the Premium Economy cabin is the elevated dining experience. Meals include a hot entrée, fresh salad, dessert served on chinaware, and complimentary alcoholic beverages, making it a more refined offering compared to the standard Main Cabin service.

Aircraft and Fleet Details
American Airlines has outfitted its entire fleet of Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft with Premium Economy, including:
- Boeing 777-200ER
- Boeing 777-300ER
- Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner
- Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
These aircraft, typically operating long-haul international routes, will now also be deployed on key domestic services like JFK–LAX. The rollout reflects American Airlines’ strategy to differentiate premium offerings on high-value, high-traffic routes.

Service Differentiation and Booking Details
In contrast to Main Cabin and Main Cabin Extra, the Premium Economy cabin features dedicated crew members, ensuring personalized service throughout the journey. While Wi-Fi is available for purchase, its quality may vary by aircraft and route.
Tickets for Premium Economy on the JFK–LAX route go on sale July 28 via aa.com and the American Airlines mobile app.
