AUCKLAND– Air New Zealand (NZ) has teamed up with DoorDash to launch a unique partnership, marking the occasion with a one-off delivery from New York (JFK) to Auckland (AKL). The collaboration kicked off with iconic Levain Bakery cookies embarking on a 14,000-kilometre journey across the Pacific.

From this week, DoorDash members can now earn one Airpoints Dollar for every NZD $60 spent on orders, linking everyday meals to Air New Zealand’s (NZ) popular Airpoints loyalty programme.

Air New Zealand DoorDash Partnership

The partnership reflects Air New Zealand’s (NZ) strategy of expanding Airpoints into more areas of daily life.

With more than 4.8 million members, Airpoints is one of the country’s most recognised loyalty programmes, offering rewards not just for travel but also for groceries, fuel, and everyday purchases.

Air New Zealand’s General Manager of Loyalty, Alex Larsen, highlighted the symbolic value of the launch.

He explained that the New York-to-Auckland cookie dash was designed to showcase how the collaboration brings members closer to their next trip, whether that’s a short flight to Wellington (WLG) or a long-haul journey back to New York (JFK).

DoorDash’s New Zealand General Manager, Bradley Thomas, added that the tie-up makes everyday food delivery more rewarding by giving customers additional value from the meals and essentials they already buy.

Celebratory Giveaway in Auckland

To celebrate the launch, Airpoints members in Auckland (AKL) will have the chance to sample Levain’s world-famous cookies.

A giveaway is set for Thursday at Commercial Bay, running from 11 am to 3 pm, where members who have linked their Airpoints number to DoorDash can collect a cookie while supplies last.

This giveaway is a one-off event, and Levain cookies will not be available through DoorDash beyond this activation. The delivery from New York was purely symbolic to mark the partnership launch.

Expanding Everyday Earning Opportunities

For Air New Zealand (NZ), the partnership is another step in broadening how members can collect Airpoints Dollars. By turning routine food orders into rewards, the airline is making loyalty benefits more accessible and relevant in daily life.

DoorDash, which has been growing its footprint in New Zealand, gains a powerful differentiator by linking with one of the country’s most established loyalty schemes.

The collaboration strengthens its positioning in a competitive delivery market, while Air New Zealand benefits by reinforcing the value of Airpoints beyond aviation.

Bottom Line

The partnership between Air New Zealand (NZ) and DoorDash demonstrates how loyalty programmes are evolving to touch more aspects of consumer life.

By connecting everyday food delivery with travel rewards, the two brands are showing that earning Airpoints doesn’t just happen at the airport—it can start with dinner at home.
