BENGALURU- Tata group-owned Air India (AI) is set to enhance its international network beginning in March 2025. The expansion will strengthen the airline’s footprint in key markets while catering to the growing demand for international travel.
The airline, now under the Tata Group’s management, has been going through transformative changes to improve its fleet, services, and connectivity. These new flights come as part of Air India’s strategy to reclaim its position as a leading global carrier.
Air India flight Expansion in summer 2025
Air India has announced a series of frequent expansions across several international routes from Delhi. These changes will improve connectivity and provide more travel options for passengers.
Delhi-Nairobi (Kenya)
- Current Frequency: 3 flights per week.
- New Frequency: 4 flights per week.
- Effective Date: April 1, 2025
This route, which connects Delhi with East Africa, serves as a vital connection for business and tourism. Nairobi’s position as a gateway to African safari destinations and a key trade hub makes this route increasingly popular.
Air India is the sole airline in this sector. The airline operates Boeing 787-8 in the sector. Apart from Delhi, Mumbai is the only city connected to Nairobi.
Delhi-Seoul (South Korea)
- Current Frequency: 4 flights per week.
- New Frequency: 5 flights per week.
- Effective Date: April 1, 2025
South Korea is a crucial market for both business and leisure travelers. With increasing trade relations and cultural exchanges between the two nations and Air India’s decision to boost frequencies reflects growing demand.
Air India competes with Korean Air in this sector. Korean Air operates 3 weekly flights with Boeing 787-9. Delhi is the only city in India with non-stop flights to Seoul.
Delhi-Vienna (Austria)
- Current Frequency: 3 flights per week.
- New Frequency: 4 flights per week.
- Effective Date: May 11, 2025
Vienna is a major European hub known for its history, culture, and connectivity to other parts of Europe. These additional flights will help travelers heading to Austria or transiting through Vienna to other destinations.
Air India operates the Boeing 787-8 to Vienna. Air India is the sole airline in the sector. Previously, Lufthansa group has presented their interest in introducing Austrian Airlines services to Delhi. Delhi is the only Indian city with a non-stop flight to Austria.
Delhi-Zurich (Switzerland)
- Current Frequency: 4 flights per week.
- New Frequency: 5 flights per week.
- Effective Date: May 31, 2025.
Switzerland remains a popular destination among Indians, offering a mix of scenic beauty to tourists. The increased frequency will help meet the demand during peak summer months.
Air India competes with Swiss International Airlines in the sector. Swiss operates a daily flight with Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Air India operates Boeing 787-8 in this sector.
Apart from Delhi, Mumbai is the only other Indian city with a non-stop flight to Switzerland.
