Air Canada European Routes Boosts

Air Canada (AC) is boosting its European network with nearly 1,300 additional weekly seats to Paris and Athens, and extending its peak Toronto (YYZ) to Rome schedule through October 2025. These enhancements reflect anticipated strong demand for transatlantic travel in the upcoming summer season.

Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning & President of Cargo, expressed enthusiasm about the new Edinburgh route: “Air Canada is excited to add the only non-stop flights between Montreal and Edinburgh! Our new flights will link Scotland to Canada’s second largest metropolitan area, bringing additional travel choices to the legendary land of castles, lochs, and more through our extensive network at our Montreal hub.”

The addition of Air Canada’s Montreal route marks another enhancement to Edinburgh Airport’s North American network, bringing the total to eleven destinations available to travelers this summer. This expansion provides greater choice for passengers at Scotland’s busiest airport, which is now part of the VINCI Airports network.

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport, highlighted the significance of this development:

This is a fantastic addition to our North America connectivity, and we are delighted that Air Canada is adding more options from Scotland’s busiest airport. We see continued demand for direct links between Canada and Scotland, and that demand is both inbound and outbound, demonstrating the attractiveness of Edinburgh and Scotland to an international audience as well as the excitement people here have for a country we have strong bonds with.”

Dewar further noted that this addition represents “a big vote of confidence from Air Canada in Edinburgh’s market,” expressing enthusiasm about welcoming the new route later this summer.

The new Montreal-Edinburgh service will operate three times weekly from June 26 to September 7, 2025, using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft configured with Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

Here’s the flight schedule:

  • Flight AC936 will depart Montreal at 21:50 on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Edinburgh at 09:20 the next day.
  • The return flight, AC937, leaves Edinburgh at 11:10 on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, landing in Montreal at 13:30.

Enhanced Service to Major European Destinations

The carrier’s European expansion extends beyond the new Edinburgh route with significant capacity increases to other popular destinations:

Paris Service Boost

Air Canada is adding three new weekly flights from Toronto to Paris on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

This enhancement brings the airline’s total service to Paris to up to 10 weekly flights from Toronto and 14 weekly flights from Montreal, providing travelers with greater flexibility for their French getaways.

Athens Frequency Increase

Two additional weekly flights to Athens will operate from Toronto on Tuesdays and Fridays. Notably, Air Canada is extending these additional frequencies until October, extending the traditional summer season. The airline will offer up to 10 weekly flights from both Toronto and Montreal to the Greek capital.

Rome Schedule Extension

Air Canada is extending up to four additional weekly frequencies to Rome until October, lengthening the peak season service. This will provide passengers with up to 12 weekly flights from Toronto and 9 weekly flights from Montreal to the Italian capital.

The airline operates European flights using Boeing 777s and 787 Dreamliners.
